Sixth – Eighth GRADES
A TIME TO MOVE FORWARD
Sixth to Eighth grade students find themselves studying more independently. The Parent’s role is still to be involved, but as a guide more than a direct provider of instruction.
The teacher is a credentialed Multiple Subjects instructor, but students will be working more with specialists in Math and Science.
JUMP START HIGH SCHOOL
By 7th and 8th grades, our students who maintain a high grade point average will be allowed to add some high school courses to Jump Start the high school program. They may start accumulating high school credits at this time.
A student, in some cases, will be able to take visual and performing arts, foreign languages, technology and instruments math and receive high school credit for it.
Middle School Counseling is available for students to plan their high school and post high school interests.
CURRICULUM:
Curriculum for grades 6-8 are state adopted texts with learning opportunities based on home education philosophy. Opportunities abound for augmenting lessons with interest based activities—unique to each student. Teacher, parent and student collaborate in determining these activities.
Teachers: Student work is created, assigned and assessed by credentialed California Multiple Subject teachers. All assignments consider the individual interests and needs of the student.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Assignments are made by the highly qualified teacher according to California State standards guidelines, and are given out each four week period. Each week as the family meets with the teacher, evaluations are made of the coursework learned.
A specialized teacher will be a guide to assist in study skills, life skills, technology. The teacher will guide the parent in overseeing the student’s work. We create a team effort.
