KINDERGARTEN – THIRD GRADE

Primary aged children are engaged in the learning process with the parent as the Assistant Teacher and guided by your Supervising Teacher.

The Parent will guide the student through the state standards using school provided curriculum and enrichment activities. We create a team effort.

CURRICULUM

Curriculum for Kindergarten—3rd grade is California State adopted curriculum and is augmented by a variety of home school tools – tempered with flexibility for personal interests

In these early years, curriculum is designed to focus on reading, writing and math. Much of the curriculum is integrated across the courses.

ACTIVITIES & FIELD TRIPS

Family outings account for many of the field trips and experiential learning opportunities.

For example, a day at the zoo is experiential across all curricula.

There are school wide field trips as well, and there is a weekly Park Day.

THE PROCESS: HOW IT WORKS

Schooling is a partnership between the parent, child and the school. Parents are responsible for the day to day delivery of schoolwork with our teacher- created curriculum.

School takes place anywhere. At home, in the car, at a park. Use your imagination. Teacher meetings at this age level may be weekly but less frequent visits are often determined based on the needs of the family.

ASSESMENTS

Evaluations in the early years are more project based and interactive. What a student knows at this age is reflected more in non written communication.

Kinders and First graders take no formal tests, Second and Third graders will participate in STAR test.
