Greetings from Somis Academy School Counselor’s Office!!

We understand that high school is a critical point and transition in a young person life. That is why your school counselor is here to assist your student through that process which begins with the 9th grade and culminates with your student graduating, to post graduation plans, whether it is applying for college or pursuing a specific career.

Somis Academy offers academic, personal, social, and college to career counseling. Providing individual counseling services for all students is what you can expect from the counseling department at Somis Academy. We are advocates and supporters for our students and parents. Somis Academy is truly unique, in that we can provide one-on-one individual time with all students.

Somis Academy offers several UC/CSU approved College Prep (CP) courses, and for students who would like to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses, we can meet this need as well. In addition, we encourage our eligible 11th and 12th grade students to take UC/CSU approved courses at the local community college. And, for students who are looking for career training we offer courses from the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) as well.

Low Student Counselor Ratios

Somis Academy counseling Department has a low student to counselor ratio. While other high schools have ratios of up to 500 to 1, Somis Academy has a ratio of 200 to 1.

What does this mean for the incoming family? It means that you will receive individual attention, and that the counselor will be available weekly for drop in appointments.

Counseling Programs Offered

Somis Academy has a College Night, Career Day, and College Campus visits.

In addition, there is a Senior Graduation night.
