HIGH school GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

• 40 Credits English

• 30 Credits Math (10 credits Algebra 1)

• 30 Credits Science (physical / biological / 3rd year Science)

• 10 Credits Visual/Performing Arts or Foreign Language

• 10 Credits World History

• 10 Credits US History

• 5 Credits Economics

• 5 Credits Government

• 20 Credits Physical Education

• 50 Elective Credits

• 20 Credits Leadership Electives

Unique to Somis Academy, we have four requred courses:
1) Service – Students can choose where to serve in the community;
2) Technology – Student can choose from one course: Website development, Desktop Publish plus Yearbook, and/or a general Microsoft Office course; Video Technology; Music Technology or self designed technology class;
3) Career Exploration – In this course the student will have the opportunity to explore different career options, resume, and job interviewing skills;
4) Leadership– The Student will have a chance to develop a leadership project that will show off their talents and skills as a young adult

 

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

Here at Somis Academy, we feel that our high school graduates will have learned the expected school-wide student goals of Self Governance, Academic Achievement, Community Citizen and Skills for life through each one of our required courses. As a result, our high school graduates enter into the world with life experiences which have prepared them for their next steps in life.
