Somis Academy Assistant Teacher Role

The most important function of the parent in Somis Academy is that of the role of Assistant Teacher. Every parent has the responsibility of overseeing the student’s role no matter what grade the student is in.

This function changes depending on the grade level and the student’s ability/desire to work independently.

• Every parent is responsible for assuring that all assignments are completed, turned in and received by the school.

• Every parent is responsible doe attending the weekly student meeting with the supervising teacher.

• Every parent is responsible for letting the teacher know when the student is having difficulty with assignments and study skills.

• Every parent is responsible for augmenting the learning assignments with creative learning experiences.
